- A Nonlinear Analysis of Cavity Flow Based on Momentum Conditions

A new nonlinear theory is proposed for two-dimensional finite cavity flow around the body of an arbitrary shape. The cavity wake is modelled by the displacement surface based on the displacement thickness. Through this cavity model, the finite cavity problem is solved by using two momentum conditions. Furthermore, the problem of curved bodies is solved by replacing the shape of the wetted body surface with the Fourier series and reducing basic equations of the cavity flow problem to a set of nonlinear equations including the Fourier coefficients. Some examples of calculation are also shown quantitatively and compared with the experimental data for circular-arc supercavitating hydrofoils.
