説明

Turbulent measurements in compound open-channel flows were conducted by making use of a two-component laser Doppler anemometer (LDA). The ratio between the flow depth in the main channel and in the flood plain is varied for a wide range. The anisotropy of turbulence is generated by the existence of free surface in the case for which the flow depth in the flood plain is shallow. In contrast, such an anisotoropy is generated by the geometry condition of the flood plain in the case that the flow depth in the flood plain is deep. The organized horizontal vortices plays an important roll in transporting laterally the longitudinal fluid momentum in the former case. However, the secondary currents have the roll in latter case. The result shows that the mechanics of the second kind secondary currents are defferent between both cases.
