Abstract

We report a case of recurrent adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the trachea followed up long-term. An 80-year-old man undergoing tracheal ACC excision a decade earlier was found to have a lesion 1.5 cm in diameter between the left tracheal wall and left thyroid gland lobe. Aspiration cytology findings were consistent with ACC, yielding a diagnosis of recurrent tracheal ACC. The importance of long-term follow-up after tracheal ACC resection therefore cannot be over emphasized.
