Abstract

If we are able to harvest and adjust rye by the late of April in middle cool-climate highland, it will be more effective from the view point of planting system and dispersion of work force. This evaluation test was carried out in order to evaluate the usefulness of 10 breeding lines which were selected from the 4 commercial varieties in rye by the indicators : early maturity and high yield. The averages of heading time in breeding lines were earlier than the parent varieties, and the heading time of all breeding lines were late of April. Furthermore, drastic decrease of dry matter yield was not confirmed in breeding lines. From these results, it is possible to breed the varieties which were extremely early maturity and high yield by commercial variety resources.
