Abstract

Variation in leaf shape of five biotypes of field bindweed collected from one population in IN, U.S.A. in 1977 and F_1 hybrids from diallel cross was investigated. Number of each biotype in the original population was counted in 1991. The variation in leaf shape of F_1 hybrids was smaller than that of parents. The field investigation clarified that the biotype with different leaf shape from original five biotypes was dominant. Field bindweed produces the descendants of different genotype from parents by outcrossing and the descendants which are ecologically more fit may be dominant in the habitat.
