Abstract

Chlamydial complement fixation (CF) antibodies were investigated in 509 cattle and 506 pig sera. Antibody prevalence in Cattle was about 15.9%, and there were some differences in positive rate among cattle producing prefectures in Japan. The positive rate of antibody against C. psittaci of cattle aged over 3 years was higher than that of cattle aged about 2 years. However there was no correlation between gross pathological lesions and positive rate of antibody. On the other hand, antibody prevalence in pigs was about 1.2%, suggesting that porcine chlamydial infection was present in Japan.
