Description

A 4-year-old castrated male mongrel cat with slight roaring and weakness, had a hard nodule on the cervical skin. The skin nodule biopsy revealed granuloma containing round organisms with a capsule, and Cryptococcus neoformans was detected by culture. The blood was positive for C. neoformans antigen. After peroral treatment with itoraconazole for 4 months, the cutaneous nodule disappeared and the circulating antigen became negative with resolution of the symptoms.
