Description

Calopteryx japonica larva is described and figured for the first time. As compared with C. virgo larva, it differs not only in body size but in length of legs and especially in that of the caudal lamellae relative to the body length. As compared to C. atrata larva, it differs apparently in shape of the head, the labium, and the median caudal lamella, and in relative length of the antennal pedicel to the first segment of flagellum and that of the median lamella to the lateral lamellae.
