We investigated the infection of adult Neoheterobothrium hirame in Japanese flounder on the Kagoshima coast, southern Japan. The prevalence and mean intensity of the parasite were slightly lower than those from other coastal waters in Japan. Fifty-four percent of one-year old Japanese flounder showed anemia and 21% of 1999 year class, three-year old fish were infected with the parasite. These results might be affected by the temperature condition on the Kagoshima coast, where higher temperature was recorded through a year: it showed above 28°C in summer and above 16°C even in winter.
