Abstract
An American cocker spaniel with a long-term history of chronic otitis externa was referred to our educational veterinary hospital for malar abscess and the mass formation in exteranal ear canal. CT examination revealed the lesion occupying the right external and middle ear and bone lysis of the tympanic bulla. Since an epithelium tumor was suggested by needle biopsy, a total ear canal ablation with lateral bulla osteotomy was performed. Ultrasonic osteotome was used for the osteotomy. Prognosis of the patient was excellent. In this case, chronic otitis externa triggered the tumorigenesis, and a chronic suppurative otitis media with the bone lysis of the tympanic bulla and malar subcutaneous abscess with the fistulation occurred as the result. <br>
