A bony mass was found in the distal femur of a 10-month-old, male Golden Retriever with lameness of the left hindlimb. Eroded cortices, permeate bone lysis patterns and periosteal reactions were observed on the distal femur and proximal tibia. An amputation was performad, and subsequent histopathology revealed a proliferation of well-differentiated osteocytes and chondrocytes without malignant population as a result of osteocatilaginous exostosis. Chemotherapy was not performed. Approximately 140 days following the amputation, cutaneous masses were found on the truncus, and diagnosed as an extraskeletal osteosarcoma histopathologically. Pulmonary radiography also revealed the presence of metastatic tumors. The animal died about 160 days after surgery.
