Adjuvant chemotherapy of the head and neck cancer.

Description

We studied the adjuvant chemotherapy for 61 patients of the head and neck cancer. From 1980 to 1989, We treated with chemotherapy using CDDP, 5-FU or CDDP, PEP, et al. for post operative patients. 18 cases were carcinoma of tongue and oral floor, 6 cases were mesopharyngealoa, 13 cases were hypopharyngeal ca, 12 cases were laryngeal ca, 7 cases were ca, of paranasal sinus, and et al. We evaluated there survival rate compared with patients who not treated with adjuvant chemotherapy.<br>In conclusion, 3-year survival rate of adjuvant chemotherapy group was 54%, 5-year survival rate was 42%. In the patients of the stage IV of tongue and oral floor carcinoma, group of adjuvant chemotherapy had better survival rate then non adjuvant chemotherapy group, but there was not appered the statistical difference.
