Benzydamine hydrochloride gargle (NIK-237) was used for 20 patients aged from 11 to 78 years old who had suffered from painful disease of oral mucosa and postoperative pain during 6 months from October 1982 to April 1983.<BR>The results were as follows:<BR>1) NIK-237 was felt very fresh and tasty for almost all patients.<BR>2) Analgesic effect was recognized in ten postoperative pain cases with in 30 minutes of the administration.<BR>3) The clinical usefulness was recognized in 19 cases (95.0%) .<BR>4) Analgesic effect was recognized more evidently than anti-inflammatory effect.<BR>5) No adverse effect or side effect was observed.<BR>In conclusion, NIK-237 was considered to be effective for painful disease of oral mucosa and postoperative pain.
