Description
The abdominal walls of children are thin and their ribs are flexible. High-energy trauma like traffic accident or bicycle handle bar trauma may cause visceral trauma, even if the skin and underlying abdominal walls appear intact. The organ functions in children are limited. An extremely acute emergency status can suddenly occur post-trauma in children. Because they are unable to describe their own status, monitoring, repeat assessment and examinations should be performed for children who have suffered any abdominal trauma.
