Description
The goal of the WHO Patient Safety Safe Surgery Saves Lives Challenge is to improve the safety of surgical care around the world. This was compiled into the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist. The aim of this Checklist is to strengthen accepted safety practices and improve communication and teamwork between team members. The Checklist is intended as a tool for use by HCWs interested in improving the safety of their operations and reducing unnecessary surgical deaths and adverse events. The results of the use of this checklist in many industrialized countries have been reported. In Japan, many clinicians have still not adopted and adapted the checklist for use in their hospitals. Almost all tools and guidelines have been translated into Japanese. The adoption of WHO Safe Surgery Checklist is anticipated in all operative theaters in Japan.
