Description
Optimal management of postoperative pain is an important goal for early mobilization and enhanced recovery. A team approach to acute pain service (APS) and multimodal analgesia is useful in achieving this goal. We established an APS team and a postoperative pain control system at Toho University Omori Medical Center. Pharmacists play an important role in postoperative pain management by preparing analgesics, assessing pain and complications, and minimizing pain- and analgesic-related adverse effects.
