Description
The results of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty using the PCA unicompartmental knee system are reported. A total of 13 knees in 10 patients were followed up for 4 to 15 months (mean, 9 months) . The results were almost satisfactory in pain relief (no pain in 7 knees, mild pain in 5 knees, moderate pain in one knee) ; however, the range of motion was not improved. Radiographic assessment showed satisfactory correction of the mechanical axis, and the mean postoperative FTA was 174°. As for complications, loose beads appeared in 3 of 7 knees in which implants were fixed without cement. These results suggest that precise osteotomy and good quality of bone are essential in cementless fixation of implants in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty.
