Abstract

The Kanda River is representative of the small and medium sized rivers running through the center of Tokyo and its basin area is one of the earliest urbanized basins.<BR>The study provides a summary of the results of questionnaire survey on the consciousness for river environment in its Kanda River area, This questiohnaire survey is intend to a total plan with regard to such improvement of river environment, An object of questionnaire is inhabitants and intelligent Persons, Gathering method of questionnaire survey is by mail. We sent to 3300 letters for inhabitants, to 500 letters for intelligent Persons, Result of mail, ratio of recovery was 21.5% in inhabitants, and 14.4% in intelligent persons.<BR>The result of questionnaire survey, in the near future, a new path has opened for improvement of river environment in the kanda river, and we could understand for concretely needs in the basin Kanda River.
