This paper analytically deals with characteristics of an effective kinetic frictional force and a mean sliding velocity which are defined as that of the mean value over one period under vibrational or impulsive normal force. In the case of repetitive impact, the effective kinetic frictional force generally increases by pulsive frictional force train due to colliding force. On the other hand, in the case of the superposition of vibrational force in addition to static pressure, the effective force decreases, because the body slips while pressure force decreases, and the maximum reduction of the effective force is obtained under the condition that force amplitude equals to static pressure. In either case, however, if the body slides intermittently, the effective kinetic frictional force increases with increasing of the mean sliding velocity and also it becomes that the friction behaves like a viscous damping. Similar results are obtained in cases that the slider itself jumps or generates vibrational force.
