Abstract

This paper describes the analysis of the Jisho-ji garden constructed in the Genbun-era (1737-1741) mainly based on the record found in the temple. Following aspects are found through the analysis. 1. The garden construction was done under the direction of the principal gardener named "Ganji Sudo." 2. While buildings in the temple were built by the local carpenters, the gardener from Owari district was assigned to design the garden. 3. A couple of major temple supporters along with specialists with expertise had participated during schematic phase.
