Abstract
A new measuring instrument of thermal environment using a personal computer was developed to calculate the thermal indices and to control heating/cooling devices. This instrument consists of a personal computer, handmade interface, digital multi-meter and sensors which are thermocouple, humidity sensor, and black heated and unheated cylinders. The procedure to measure and control is as follows: Thermal conditions via the digital multi-meter and the interface board. The magnitude of control signals are decided in the computer based on calculation of necessary amount of additional or reduced heat to maintain the corrected humid operative temperature corresponded to thermal comfort.
