Description
The patient was a 57-year-old male who had received syo-saiko-to due to liver dysfunction since 1983. He was diagnosed chronic hepatitis C in 1992 and administered interferon (IFN) α-2b 9MIU for 48 times. After the administration of IFN α-2b, the symptom of interstitial pneumonitis appeared. After the all medications were stopped, the symptoms and radiological findings were improved. The result of lymphocyte stimulation test was negative for IFN α-2b, but IFN-induced pneumonitis was strongly suspected from the clinical course. It should be noticed that IFN α-2b may induce interstitial pneumonitis, especially during the administration of sho-saiko-to like this case.
