Description
A 66-year-old male who had histories of ruptured varices and episodes of ascites and hepatic encephalopathy was admitted to our hospital in March, May, June, and August in 1992 because of the recurrent spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). To prevent the recurrence of SBP, a long term ofloxacin administration was initiated in September 1992. No recurrence of SBP has been observed until July 1994. It is suggested that ofloxacin prevents the recurrence of SBP in HCV-antibody positive cirrhosis.
