Abstract
The usefulness of an oral cephalosporin, cefuroxime axetil (CXM-AM), was evaluated by administering the drug mainly to the patients with pyodermia.<BR>The study was conducted on 54 cases: 8 folliculitis, 19 furuncle (including furunculosis or carbuncle), 13 secondary infection of various skin diseases, 2 impetigo contagiosa, 1 suppurative hidradenitis, 3 panaritium, 4 infected atheroma, 3 skin ulcer and necrosis, and 1 pustular acne. The efficacy of this drug was obseved in 47 cases (87.0%). Adverse effet was seen in only one case (stomatitis), however no serious symptoms were recognized.
