Description
In 1965, 575 psoriatic patients were found at 44 hospitals in Osaka prefecture. Its incidence to all dermatological patients was 0.47%(1.03% to 0%).<BR>450 out of 575 patients were living in Osaka prefecture. Among 450 patients, the largest number was found in the 3rd and 4th decades and male predominated over female. The incidence of psoriasis par population in each decade are gradually increasing with age.<BR>When 450 patients were divided according to their dwelling area into 53 subgroups, the incidence per 100 thousand inhabitants was 6.8 in average and the highest, was 25.0, the latter being still very low as compared to that of U. S. A. or Europe.<BR>At the department of dermatology of the Osaka University Hospital psoriatic patients and their incidence to all dermatological patients are gradually increasing since 1957 to 1969 (53 to 124, 0.54 to 1.90 respectively). But there is no evidence that supports actual increase of this disease and the increase seems to be due to some social factors.
