Description

A case of human papilloma virus typel6 (HPV16) positive Bowen carcinoma on the finger is reported. The patient was a 54-year-old man who had some papules on the right fourth finger for about 4 years. The histological examination indicated typical characteristics of Bowen carcinoma, and HPV16DNA was detected in this specimen by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). HPV16 is commonly found in Bowen's disease on genital lesions and fingers. It is suggested that HPV16 may play an important role in the development of carcinoma.
