Description

We report a case of atopic dermatitis accompanied with impetigo crustosa and Kaposi'svaricelliform eruption. A 29-year-old man had been treated at another clinic under the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis. In May 1994 his skin condition got worse and he was prescribed extra 15mg/day of predonisolone. In a few days he suffered from conspicuous gathering of erosion and crust on the face and neck and vesicle on the chest, so he visited our hospital. Laboratory data revealed marked elevation of CRP, ASK, IgE RIST, HSV (CF) HSV-1 (NT) and HSV-1 IgG (EIA). We diagnosed that impetigo crustosa and Kaposi's varicelliform eruption had combined with atopic dermatitis. According to the diagnosis we started the therapy of PIPC and Aciclovir, which dramatically relieved the sympton. In our case there is a possibility that predonisolone prescription caused the occurrence of impetigo crustosa and Kaposi' s varicelliform eruption and we feel a doubt whether we can easily prescribe predonisolone when skin eruption of atopic dermatitis get worse.
