説明

Tosufloxacin is a new oral fluoroquinolone with enhanced activity against Gram-positive bacteria, particularly for staphylococcus aureus including methicillin-resisitant S. aureus. Ninety-four patients with various suppurative skin and soft tissue infections were enrolled in an open multicenter study. We performed the clinical and bacteriological evaluations on entry into the study, during and at the end of therapy. The patients received oral tosufloxacin either 150mg two times a day, 150mg three times a day or 300mg twice daily. The overall clinical efficacy of the treatment was 83. 0% (78/94). Bacteriological eradication was achieved in 100% of the cases examined. Adverse reactions possibly due to the study drug occurred in two patients. These reactions were headache and acute deafness which disapeared within 1 week after cessation of the administreation.<BR>In conclusion oral tosufloxacin dosed 2 or 3 times daily seems to be suitable for clinical management of suppurative skin and soft tissue infections.
