Description

An adult case of anaphylactic shock caused by egg-white lysozyme was reported. He showed anaphylactic shock after taking oral medicaments including Cefspan®, Ulgut®, Surgam® and Neuzym®. Judging from some skin tests, we concluded that this anaphylactic shock was caused by lysozyme. He has kept himself away from egg because he always felt ill after eating egg and foods containing it. This fact warns clinicians that we should ask patient whether he has some allergy to eggs or not before prescribing lysozyme preparations.
