Abstract

In this study, the tensile bond strength and the single plane shear strength for the PCM and concrete bonding interface were examined. An experimental study was performed to evaluate the RC slab bottom surface thickness increase method of a highway bridge by applying the primer or adhesive at the interface between the concrete and the PCM. All tensile test specimens failure point was concrete region. The tensile test result showed affected by the compressive strength of concrete. On other hand, the primer applied specimens A and B, failed at the interface of the concrete and the PCM in single plane shear test. The average single-plane shear strengths was 3.97N/mm2 and 3.09N/mm2 respectively. As for the epoxy adhesive applied specimens K and N, the failure occurred on the PCM side. The failure was governed by the compressive strength of the PCM. Therefore, the integrity of the concrete and PCM was ensured by applying adhesive to the bonding interface.
