Cases of positive urine findings at the third phase survey of renal diseases of school children in Kanagawa-Ken have been fed into the computer system of Kitasato University Hospital (KCAM) for the purpose of storage, retrieval, and processing of the follow-up data. The authors have made a tentative criteria for classifying them into 3 medical care brackets (1, 2, 3) and 4 daily activities allowances brackets (A, B, C, D). The computer evaluation based on the criteria generally agreed with the specialists of the renal diseases. Thus the automatic classification which is superior in unbiasedness, objectivity, and recovery, will provide a useful information to the as-sesment committee of the school children's health check-up system.
The statistics of a city in this Ken 1975 showed that 67 children out of about 20, 000 were called in the third survey by the positive urin test at the preceeding phases of the mass survey. 13% of the 67 cases were then decided to be further checked by the specialists, 47% were to be followed up for the urin test only, and the remaining 40% were dismissed as nonpathological.
It was stressed that these computer stored follow-up data will be an important basis for the final evaluation of the whole school children's health check-up system.
