Description
I report the psychosomatic medical work as a clinical psychologist based on the experiences in the field of obstetrics & gynecology and the field of surgery. I first started seeing menopausal women for individual psychotherapy, and then gradually got referrals for other cases. I added a group therapy for menopausal women. This group therapy was also applied to women with breast cancer. In the field of surgery, I also provided individual psychotherapy, including patients in their terminal stages. I present cases of individual psychotherapy, according to the so-called "four typical sufferings" in women's life cycle The work as a clinical psychologist has been carried out as a member of a medical team, and has expanded according to the needs of patients. It is very important to establish a relationship with team members, in which trust and mutual respect for the autonomy to practice the psychosomatic medical work is indispensable. There are still many issues which need to be solved, such as taking care of terminally ill in the general hospitals, and instable position of the psychologist in hospitals. I hope that more clinical psychologists will get the chance of autonomous activities to make use of their specialty.
