Abstract
A purpose of this study is to develop and validate two questionnaires ; Self rating questionnaire for depression (SRQ-D) II 31 and SRQ-D II 15 revised SRQ-D. The SRQ-D II 31 was made for the assessment of depressive state, and the SRQ-D15 was made for screening of major depression. 34 outpatients with major depression and 129 students completed the SRQ-D II 31 and the SDS. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the SRQ-D II 31 included 31-items loading on one factor, which was named "symptoms of depressive state". Internal consistency of these scale were sufficiently high (SRQ-D31 : α = 0.93). 15 items out of those which had highly factor loading in SRQ-D II 31 were extracted and we made SRQ-D II 15. We examined whether or not SRQ-D II 15 can be used for a screening test. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the SRQ-D II 15 included 15-items loading on one factor, which was named "symptoms of depressive state". Internal consistency of this scale was sufficiently high (α =0.94). A correlation coefficient between SRQ-D II 15 and SDS was strong. SRQ-D II 15's cutoff point was set at 34/35. (sensitivity : 0.857, speficitivity : 0.853) SRQ-D II 31 and SRQ-D II 15 are questionnaires which have both reliability and propriety together. We can use SRQ-D II 15 as a screening test for depressive episodes. We will make a further report after conducting more investigation.
