To understand the vocal problems of school teachers during summer vacation and school term, we used questionnaire to investigate 391 school teachers visiting the Government Employees' Clinic Center because of ear, nose and throat diseases from July 1986 to January 1987. The conclusions we drew are as follows:<BR>The vocal problems of school teachers here in Taiwan were : (1) The classes in a week were heavy burden to teachers' vocal folds ; (2) The environmental noise caused reduction in pedagogic efficiency ; (3) The vocal problems of primary school teachers were more severe than the others, and (4) As far as voice disorder was concerned, obviously females were inclined to the high risk group.
