Abstract
100 g glucose tolerance test (GTT) and cortisonglucose tolerance test (CGTT) were performed on 43 spersons of 2 potential, 3 renale diabetic and 38 latent diabetic patients. GTT and CGTT of 43 persons were ystematically tested during 5 years. Eighteen persons had diabetic relatives, 25 persons had not. The grades of abnormalities of GTT and CGTT were classified to N, L and D, depending on their blood glucose values at 1 and 2 hours after glucose loading.
The persons who showed L in GTT and L or D in CGTT at the beginning of these experiments became diabetic in 4-5 years more frequently than the persons who showed N in GTT or CGTT at the beginning of experiment. Especially in the cases of L, D type of CGTT, this tendency was apparent regardless to their data in GTT. Considering the changes of GTT in each person during the 5 year's observation, data of GTT was well coincide with that of CGTT.
Judging from the results of time-course studies on the latent diabetic persons who showed N or L in GTT, they were supposed to have constant metabolic disorders and the considerable possibility to become diabetic if they showed D in CGTT.
It is recognized that CGTT is very valuable, especially to the cases with N or L in GTT, that is normal or slightly abnormal glucose tolerance.
