  Nowadays, the postmortem care and treatment (Angel care) has begun to attract attention, medically and socially. Conventional care is not thought to have a sufficient scientific ground and in lacks consistency. It hardly occurred to the staff to ask the families to join in the treatment.<br>  After a public training course of postmortem care, we made a manual for nurses. However, the manual was not utilized sufficiently. Conventional postmortem care was continued. Therefore, a new type of simulation training course adopting a corpse performed by a staff was planned and held five times. The simulation training was recorded on DVD and the trainings using the DVD were given twice.<br>  The results of the questionnaire surveys before and after the training revealed the new Angel care was received well by 73% of the respondents. Those who replied that the care could be given according to the manual accounted for 59%. The survey found that the trainees' awareness of Angel care was raised 100%. This improvement was thought to be due to the effectiveness of simulation training. The simulation training can make the staff catch the image of new Angel care and contributed to the advance in the awareness and treatment skill. The DVD can be used for the education of newcomers repeatedly.<br>  In the second questionnaire survey, some said that they were too busy to have enough time to complete Angel care. In order to solve this problem, further studies are necessary.<br>  This attempt has been evaluated in our whole hospital and decided to incorporate our idea into the hospital's educational program for newcomers. Further improvement of staff's awareness over Angel care is expected not only in the ward but also in the whole hospital by the adoption of simulation training.
