Four patients with osteogenesis imperfecta who were followed up until adolescence were reported. All the patients had a history of multiple fractures and underwent fixation using Rush pins, Küncher nails, Kirshner wires or plates. The overall complication rate was 44% and postoperative bone atrophy was observed in one patient who underwent fragmentation osteotomy. Despite the high rate of complications, all the patients are ambulatory now. These results demonstrated that surgical procedures are often necessary for patients with osteogenesis imperfecta to prevent subsequent fractures and a non-ambulatory state.
