We recently administered Tsumura Gosha-jinki-gan, which has analgesic properties and few adverse effects, to elderly patients with lumbar and lower extremity pain in order to investigate its clinical efficiency.<br>Subjects were 32 outpatients (13 males, 19 females) ranging from 65 to 83 years of age (mean 71.4). In addition, most other drugs were not administered concomitantly.<br>The administration period ranged from 4 weeks to 1 year 9 months (mean 7.3 months), and the clinical evaluation was based on the JOA score.<br>Some improvement was noted in 23.8 and 23 of 32 patients in terms of Note to author: Do you mean 23.8 subjective symptoms, objective symptoms, and daily activity respectively.<br>The JOA score has a total of 29 points, and the mean score of 17.5 point before administration improved significantly to 21.8 points after administration. Regarding adverse effects, gastrointestinal disorders were observed in four patients, and hydrodipsia in one.<br>Tsumura Gosha-jinki-gan was considered an effective drug with few adverse effects.<br>Effects in treatment of lumbar and lower extremity pain in the elderly.
