The Emergency Center of our University Hospital started in June 1981 as a third-order hospital and has dealt with a total number of 1944 cases up to July of 1983. In this series there were 301 cases referred to tramatology and 66 out of the 301 cases were needed to be treated by orthopedic surgeons.<br>On these 66 cases, statistical analysis was done and a brief discussion was made on the role of orthopedic surgeons in this center.
