説明

We report a case of delayed rupture of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon after the use of local corticosteroid injections for trigger finger.
A 37-years-old right handed man presented with left little finger flexion, pain, and swelling. Two years earlier he had been diagnosed with stenosing tenosynovitis of the little finger and treated with five local corticosteroid injections (1 mL local anesthetic and 0.5 mL of triamcinolone acetonide 40 mg/mL.) He experienced transient relief from triggering and pain for 16 months. After his fifth injection, he visited our hospital with the inability to flex the distal interphalengeal joints of his little finger. He was unable to recall any specific injury or traumatic event. Rupture of the FDP was diagnosed, and operative treatment was planned. A transfer of the palmaris longus tendon was performed to restore the function of the damaged FDP.
Upon completion of a physiotherapy program, he recovered full range of motion of his little finger more or less.
