In recent years, infestations of bedbug have increased rapidly throughout in U.S.A as well as Canada, Australia, Europe and some developed countries. Also in Japan, a resurgence of bedbug has been noted after early 2000's. The infestations are not high level at present and limited in some urban area and leisure facilities, however it probably increase due to their behavior and reproductive ecology well adapted to man-made environments. Bedbug is not known to transmit human diseases, however they damage a quality of life by causing irritating bites, serious distress, sleeplessness and sometimes serious allergic reactions. Some explanations have been proposed for these resurgence including: increased international travel and dispersal, increased use of second-hand bed and furniture, deceased use of residual insecticides and changes in control practices, developed pesticides resistance, and global warming. Bedbug control requires a fully integrated approach. Various control measures and approaches adopted in US pest control industry are introduced.
