Abstract
Local distributions of pulsatile flow velocity and turbulent intensity were measured in the model of human aorta in response to the valve orientation of BSS and SJM valves by using laser Doppler velocimeter. Total assessment of the turbulent characteristics, energy loss and performance index of the valves presented that the outer curve orientation of BSS and the orientation 2 of SJM setting the connmissure in parallel to the aortic curvature provided lower turbulent intensity and the best hydrodynamic performance.
