Abstract

Two patients with chronic glomerulonephritis contained antibodies which combined with antigens of normal kidney and other organs. These antigens could be detected in tissue extracts prepared by prolonged autolysis, urea or sodium deoxycholate treatment but not in plain saline extracts of the tissues. Related antigens were detected in 6 of 70 sera originated from patients with various renal disorders. Of these 6 patients, four excreted the antigens into urines. One of the above mentioned two patients with glomerulonephritis and the other with lupoid nephritis whose serum contained antibodies to cytoplasmic antigens excreted the antibodies into urines.
