Abstract

We recently experienced a case of lingual tuberculosis. The patient, a 70 years old male, complained of painful ulceration in tongue while he was treated for the gout.
At first cancer of the tongue was suspected, however, biopsy specimen from the tongue and bacteriological examination revealed tuberculosis of the tongue.
Additionally, tuberculous lesions were found in lungs, skin, kidneys and other organs, and the case was diagnosed as general hematogenous disseminated tuberculosis.
Four weeks after the administration of SM, INH, RFP, EB and steroid, ulceration of tongue diminisched significantly with scar and also tuberculosis in other organs was markedly improved.
This was an oldest case among 78 reported cases so far in Japan.
