Abstract
As a result of the research made on the ASLO reaction of the tonsil diseases, the conclusions were that:
1. In normal person, it is under 250 Todd units; and in acute diseases, over one half of the cases are within the normal limit. But in one half of the cases of hypertrophy of the tonsils, it was com- paratively high.
2. The average and positive percentage in the chronic tonsillitis showed a higher percentage than the acute cases.
3. The size of the tonsil showed no remarkable difference in the average of ASLO. But the posi-tive percentage is high in type II and III.
4. Concerning the age, the ASLO unit has the tendency to decrease along with the age.
5. The unit of ASLO in secondary infection, the acute nephritis, rheumatic arthritis, and endo-carditis are the highest in this order. But in chro-nic nephritis, it was within normal units.
6. We could not find no special relationship between the ASLO and Ultra Short Wave provo-cation test. It was also discovered that the ASLO decreases after tonsillectomy.
From the above, it was found that to count the ASLO reaction, is very useful in deciding on tonsillectomy and to determine the post-operation progress.
