抄録

A forty seven year-old male suffering from branchiogenic carcinoma was reported.<br> The patient noticed u swelling in the left cervical region without other symptoms. Two months after detection of the tumor, he visited a local clinic where he had an exploratory excision of the tumor. Histopathologically, the specimen was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma arising from the epithelial Tinning of a lateral cervical cyst and he was referred to Kitasato University Hospital. A careful physical examination failed to reveal any other lesions except for the tumor in the left lateral neck. Therefore, the treatment was performed under a clinical diagnosis of branchiogenic carcinoma. The patient underwent radical neck dissection following radiation therapy (4000 rads). There was no recurrence of the tumor thirteen months after the surgery.
