Description

A case with severe cyanosis was reported which developed after a long administration of large amount of acetophenetidin, acetoanilid and their derivatives, and was proved spectrophotometrically sulfahemoglobinemia, This cyanosis was reduced gradually by abstention of anodyne usuage and the sulfahemoglobin in blood decreased from the initial amount of 1.16 g/dl to 0.29 g/dl after 50 days, away from anodyne, paralleling to the increase of oxygen combining capacity of red blood cell, decrease of reticulocyte count, coproporphyrine, porphobilinogen and aminolevulinic acid in urine.
