Synthetic Fiber Paper Ⅰ, Handsheet-making of Polyvinyl Alcohol Fibers, Jushikako, 6, 509-516 (1957)Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fibers were successfully fabricated in a paper form using a Japanese paper-making wire and a wooden tank. Polyacrylic acid sodium salts were added to a dilute suspension of PVA fibers swollen with hot water, followed by thermal drying for self-welding. Swelling behavior of PVA binders was allowed to be adjusted by heat treatment. PVA fiber paper possessed good softness and high folding endurance.
