Description
It is essential for a complete HDTV system to develop a broadcasting system that can send the HDTV picture through out the country. HDTV broadcast services using a single satellite broadcasting channel became available with the development of a transmission system called MUSE which utilizes a bandwidth compression technique. By MUSE, a satellite channel of a 12GHz band of width of 27 or 24 MHz can carry an HDTV picture and digitally coded four channel sound signals.<BR>The MUSE system is one type of a sub-Nyquist sampling transmission system. A total system for MUSE is developed and emission experiments are successfully carried out using BS-2b satellite. Received HDTV pictures using an antenna of 75cm diameter had quality good enough for actual HDTV broadcast Services.
