The present paper is principally concerned with the hydrological problem of dissolved minerals transported by the Sanebuchi River and its tributary, the Kurosawa River.
The observation on the water quality during the period from 1966 to 1967 reveals that the main constituent of the Sanebuchi River is calcium bicarbonate, and that of the Kurosawa River calcium sulfate derived from the mineral spring in the drainage basin.
Between the dissolved oxygen and the water temperature, a linear relationship is found to be of the rivers in question, which can be expressed by the following equation:
DO=aTw+b,
where a (<0) and b (>0) are constants dependent on the river.
The transportation of dissolved minerals has been examined during the same water year. As a result, a simple functional relation is obtained:
Qd=aQn,
where Qd is each mineral discharge, Q flow rate and a and n are constants, n equals to 0.6 to 0.9 for Na+, K+, Mg2+, Cl-, So42- and 1.0 for dissolved silica.
The total amount of the dissolved materials transported to the Mogami River through the channel is about four thousand tons per year.
